Organizations find themselves at various levels as it relates to the issues of Diversity. No matter where you are in this process, the primary dimensions of diversity( the things we can see) are the things that inhibit awareness and sensitivity to others. We tend to make decisions about others based on race, age, gender, appearance, ability, etc. When we make our decisions at the primary level, we miss the opportunity to know people at the secondary level (things below the surface) which is where we discover that we have more in common than we do different. It is the primary level that causes the most difficulty and creates problems in our society.
